The Regional Rural Development Standing Working Group (SWG) in South-Eastern Europe, within the project “Strengthening regional capacities for rural development through integrated forest and water resources management in Southeast Europe (LEIWW)”, will support organization of the event Second regional children mountaineers camp “Tara 2016”, which will be organized by the Mountaineering Club “Radnicki” in the period from 31st July till 6th August 2016, at Tara Mountain in Serbia.
The goal of the Mountaineering Club “Radnicki” is to establish the camp as a traditional international regional gathering of the kids mountaineers from all around Western Balkan. From year to year, by enlargement of the number of participants and by promoting mountaineering as healthy activity, this will improve, not only awareness among the kids, but also among elder population, starting with parents.
The seven-day camp will provide the opportunity for children to learn mountaineering skills and orientation and behavior in nature, using maps and compass, to meet with the flora and fauna of the mountains through creative workshops – both learning and making friends with each other. They will go back home enriched with new experiences, their independence and resourcefulness will be encouraged, just like the knowledge of the need to spend more free time in active and healthy contact with nature.
The event is facilitated by the European Union funded project “Fostering regional cooperation and balanced territorial development of Western Balkan countries in the process towards EU integration” implemented by the SWG.
