Earth Day – implementation of the pilot measures in the cross border region “Drina-Tara”, 21-22 April, 2016


In the framework of the Earth Day, cleaning actions will be implemented from 21th till 22nd April 2016 in the cross border region “Drina-Tara”.

Local communities from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Montenegro will participate in environmental cleaning actions under the slogan “Green actions – Earth Day – everyday”. Plastic containers for separation of waste as a promotion for proper management and awareness raising will be provided to the local public utility companies and schools. Besides the cleaning actions and the procurement of containers, signs with educational note and wooden overhangs, will be organized educational training activities for youth in the municipalities in cooperation with local NGOs and local authorities.

This activity is part of the Project “Solid Waste Management in cross-border rural and coastal areas of SEE region”, being implemented on behalf of the Regional Rural Development Standing Working Group (SWG) and the Network of Associations of Local Authorities of South-East Europe (NALAS), supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) through the GIZ Open Regional Fund for South East Europe – Modernisation of Municipal Services (ORF MMS) and the Government of Switzerland.
