The Regional Rural Development Standing Working Group (SWG) in South-East Europe (SEE) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) will soon start the implementation of the joint project:”Streamlining of agriculture and rural development policies of SEE countries for EU accession”. The project aims at addressing a closer coordination and in the long run a stable relationship between policy makers and academics and between the SEE countries, which is essential for an effective administrative system and an accelerated EU accession process.
The First Kick-Off Regional Networking Workshop for this project will be held as a separate session within the 24th SWG Assembly meeting in the period from 15th – 16th of September in Vodice, Croatia.
The main topics which will be introduced to/and discussed with the participants (SWG delegates and nominated Ministry representatives responsible for policy analysis, Ministry representatives from the Rural Development Units and senior academic experts with proven expertise in agricultural/rural development policy analysis) are the following:
-Introduction into the project objectives;
-Organization of team work – sharing responsibilities over project implementation
-Plan of activities regarding the monitoring and analysis of situation in agriculture and agricultural policy
-Mapping of the fields of expertise and the social capital of all project participants and discussion on networking and cooperation campaign
– Presentation of the status of participating countries regarding alignment with EU policy and the preparedness of related documents, strategies
– Assessment of available data and information relating to EU agriculture and rural development policies (CAP) from the researchers’ (universities, research institutes and civil societies) side
