Technical Workshop on integrated management of water and forests in the river basin areas across the SEE countries will be organized on behalf of the Regional Rural Development Standing Working Group (SWG) in cooperation with the German Development Cooperation (GIZ) within the SWG GIZ Study Expert Fund (SEF) Project: “Strengthening of the regional cooperation and networking in the forestry and water management sector and sustainable development in the river basins of the South-Eastern European countries”.
The International Workshop will take part in Ohrid, on Novembr 22nd and 23rd and is intended for representatives from the Ministries (Water Sector and Forestry Sector) from SEE countries, representatives from public enterprises, forest associations, National Parks and related NGO-s.
The focus of the workshop is strengthening the cross-sector cooperation and regional networking among the water and forestry management sectors in the countries of South-Eastern Europe, aiming to resolve the reasons for the lack of it. The workshop strives to identify the common challenges for the candidate and potential candidate SEE countries in the process of EU integration, where sustainable practices and proper implementation of new legislations are prerequisite (EU WFD, Natura 2000, CAP and etc).
Through the workshop the project also strives to support the linking among the water and forestry actors in exchange of experiences, learning and joint development.
