Dear colleagues and partners,
Following the recent resignation of the Minister of Justice of Macedonia, Mr. Bilen Saliji, I would like to publicly dispel a misunderstanding that has been circulated in the media and has related to my name with the unfortunate incident of the passing of a young boy back in June 2016.
First of all, I would like to offer my deepest sympathy and heartfelt condolences to the family of Almir Aliu, may he rest in peace and I hope that this senseless loss will never be repeated in this country or elsewhere.
To my misfortune, the person involved in this incident, publicly known as case “Almir” happens to bear the same name as mine, Boban Ilic, and resides in the same city as I do, i.e. Kumanovo. After receiving several messages and phone calls from concerned colleagues and partners, I would like to clarify that this is nothing more than a coincidence and that me and my family, Ilic, are in no way involved in this incident and related to the defendant.
With the sincere hope that justice will be served I would also like to appeal to journalists and media representatives in Macedonia to conduct a thorough fact-check before making their stories available to the wide public, in order to avoid misunderstandings such as this one.
In closing, I would like to thank all of those who raised their concerns for my wellbeing and contacted me promptly.
Boban Ilic, Secretary General of the SWG RRD
