The great potentials and the diversity of the cross-border regions “Drina-Sava”, “Drina-Tara”, “Prespa” and “Sharra” will be promoted during the 12th International Trade Fair in Brčko from 14-17 November.
The Regional Rural Development Standing Working Group (SWG) in South-Eastern Europe supported the direct participation of more than 12 exhibitors – stakeholders (municipalities, non-governmental sector and the business community) from “Drina-Sava” and “Drina-Tara” cross-border regions. Through a variety of promotional material, the visitors of the fair will also have an opportunity to learn more about the other regions which are part of the SWG/EC Project: “Preparation for implementation of the Area Based Development (ABD) Approach in the Western Balkans” which is politically supported by the Ministers of Agriculture from the SWG member institutions and strongly supported by the European Commission (EC).
In fact, exactly in Brčko, in March this year, Mayors of 17 Municipalities from 3 neighboring countries signed a Memorandum of Understanding and confirmed their willingness and readiness for participation in the process of mutual cooperation and joint actions for development of the “DRINA-SAVA” cross-border region. And, as a result of strong political support to the overall project idea, recently, the Government of Brčko District decided to assign a space for the functioning of the regional office for the “Drina- Sava” region in the premises of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management.
