The Regional Rural Development Standing Working Group (SWG) in South-Eastern Europe Europe within the project: “Strengthening regional capacities for rural development through integrated forest and water resources management in Southeast Europe (LEIWW)” will support the organization of the “18th memorial Vitomir Dizdarevic – Admiral Kuk Drina-Sava international recreational-touristic kayak-canoe Regatta” which will be organized by the Kayak Club “’Srpski veslači’’ and which will be held in the period from 29.04.2017 till 07.05.2017 in the cross-border regions “Drina-Sava” and “Drina-Tara”.
The “18th memorial Vitomir Dizdarevic – Admiral Kuk Drina-Sava international recreational-touristic kayak-canoe Regatta” is a nine (9) days regatta which gathers each year around 100 participants from Australia, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Germany, Hungary, Romania, Serbia and Slovakia. During the regatta participants are accommodated in camps in cities and municipalities from where the regatta passes by, which presents a good opportunity for promotion of tourism potentials.
The aim of this event is to promote natural, cultural and historical potential of the Drina-Sava region, as well as Eastern Bosnia and Western Serbia. The regatta binds local communities and creates joint touristic offer strengthening the partnerships, especially in the tourism sector among the municipalities located along the Drina River. During the regatta participants are hosted by small entrepreneurs in the camps or in private accommodation. They can buy different products from the wide offer of healthy traditional food from small farms and discover cultural tradition presented by local cultural and artistic groups, mostly their young members.
