Technical discussion: ”Development of Organic Agriculture in the SEE Countries – Trade Procedures and Recognition of National Organic Certificates between the SEE Countries”, 16-17 November, 2011, Montenegro


Technical discussion related to the trade procedures and recognition of national organic certificates between the SEE Countries will be organized by the SWG within the SWG – GIZ ORF Project: “Improving the competitiveness of companies and organizations from South-eastern Europe in the agricultural and food sector through the implementation of food quality standards and increased regional networking”.

The event will be organized in cooperation with recently established BON (Balkan Organic Network) and is intended for representatives of the Ministries of Agriculture dealing with organic sector, representatives of BON (Balkan Organic Network) and/or representatives from the National associations of organic producers, from South-Eastern Europe.

The aim of the technical discussion is the participants to present and discuss the current situation in the organic agriculture in the region with specific focus to trade procedures and recognition of national organic certification between the SEE Countries.

The participants will be also introduced with the current EU legislation related to the Organic Production and Trade as well as with requirements for labeling and marketing of organic products in the region.

The event will provide an opportunity for establishment of closer cooperation between the representing organic producers associations and the national competent authorities, which will contribute to strengthening the regional cooperation and development of the organic movement in the SEE countries.
