The Multi-country Workshop on “LEADER Approach ‐ Legal Basis, Structure of LAGs, Successful examples, Implementation of Policy”, held on 27th April 2011 in Danilovgrad, Montenegro was jointly organized by the Regional Rural Development Standing Working Group (SWG) in SEE and TAIEX – Technical Assistance and Information Exchange instrument managed by the Directorate-General Enlargement of the European Commission.
This Multi-Country WS was targeted at relevant representatives of the SWG Member institutions and focused on issues related to implementation of LEADER and the opportunities and tools that Leader approach can provide for stakeholders (to take the initiative, to participate actively in rural development programmes in their local areas and to play an active role in shaping their own future).
The main goal was to provide participants with knowledge and understanding of EU Legislation, institutional set-up, LEADER implementation mechanisms, LAG structure, technical fiche for LEADER, monitoring and evaluation mechanisms and to increase awareness on the importance of implementation of LEADER, with special attention to transfer of know-how, lessons learned and best practices from new EU member countries related to LEADER approach.
The following specific topics were presented to the participants by specialists/experts – representatives from various institutions and LAGs from EU Member Countries:
- EU legislation related to LEADER, LEADER Approach to rural development, The seven key features of the LEADER approach, Establishment of monitoring and evaluation procedures
