The Balkan Forest Agency and the SWG organized a working meeting for the establishment of the Balkan Forest Forum, which was held in the period 18th - 19th February 2015 in Sofia, Bulgaria. The working meeting aside from the discussions on the establishment of the Balkan Forest Forum and drafting of the Memorandum of Understanding for cooperation focused on working group sessions which served the purpose to discuss the implementation of regional joint activities related to the efficient use of natural resources and sustainable management of forests and forest ecosystems.

A gathering of 240 people representing rural communities from 40 European countries, meeting at the second European Rural Parliament yesterday, approved an ambitious European Rural Manifesto. It called for full recognition of the right of rural communities to a quality of life and standard of living equal to that of urban populations, and to full participation in political processes.

Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA) 2016 have been held during the International Green Week for the eight time. Under the title “How to feed our cities? – Agriculture and rural areas in an era of urbanization”, the Forum discussed topics important to meet this challenge such as the impact urbanization on food security in different regions of the world, the role of agriculture and rural areas in light of this trend and cooperative partnerships with rural and urban development going hand in hand.
