The Regional Rural Development Standing Working Group (SWG) in the South-East Europe is continuing with the activities related to implementation of the Area Based Development Approach (ABDA) in the Western Balkan countries and has started implementation of the second phase of the EU funded project:”Preparation for implementation of Area Based Development Approach in the Western Balkans” on February 1st, 2014.
The objectives of the second phase of the project are:
(i) to contribute to sustainable economic growth of the identified cross-border regions by a continuation of the facilitation of preparatory activities for the implementation of identified and targeted economic development actions,
(ii) to strengthen the cooperation of public administrations and other public bodies, the private sector and NGO’s in the field of local development and regional cooperation by building-up local and regional cross-border capacities and
(iii) to improve competitiveness of products and services from the “Drina-Tara” and”Drina-Sava” regions through cooperation and development of integrated innovative products and services.
The project component referring to the improvement of competitiveness of products and services in the “Drina-Tara” and ”Drina-Sava” regions include small grants for supporting investments for improvement of production processes, and quality of products and services.
In order to ensure a transparent, impartial, inclusive and competitive process, the beneficiaries of the small grants will be selected based on a public “Call for project proposals” with clearly defined criteria. The public call will be opened on April 7th, 2014.
As preliminary activity before publication of the “Call for project proposals”, the SWG invites interested stakeholders from the “Drina-Tara” and “Drina-Sava” cross-border region who fulfill the criteria to submit expression of interest for participation in the activity “Enhancing competitiveness with small grants for renewal of production facilities and purchase of equipment for introducing new production processes to improve or innovate products”.
The groups of potential beneficiaries who will submit expression of interest respecting the eligibility criteria will be invited to an introductory workshop to present and discuss their proposals and to be informed about conditions for the upcoming call for applications under the grants scheme.
The expression for interest should be submitted until March 5th, 2014 not later than 16:00 hours Central European Time.
