The 3rd Working meeting of the Regional Expert Advisory Working Group on Wine in South Eastern Europe was organized by the Regional Rural Development Standing Working Group (SWG) in SEE and “13 Jul Plantaze” in the period 17th – 18th May in Podgorica, Montenegro.
The meeting aimed to explore the possibilities for future regional cooperation in SEE on the topic of wine and viticulture, in respect to the EU integration of the wine sector and market.
The meeting was intended for the members of the Expert Advisory Group in order to strengthen the cooperation on national and regional level and enhance the networking and cooperation among the institutions responsible for wine and viticulture resources.
During the meeting the discussions were focused on different topics, such as: traceability in wine quality control in the SWG member institutions; the possibility of mutual harmonizing legislation/procedures on export/import of wine products between SWG members based on EU procedures (V.I.1. document) and autochthonous and newly created varieties of wine and common possibility for their promotion and recognition in the region.
Members of the REAWG had the opportunity to visit the national and regional leader in vine industry of Montenegro “13 Jul Plantaze”, as well as vineyards “Cemovsko Polje”; wine route “Plantaze” and wine cellar “Stari Podrum”.
This activity is part of the European Union funded project:”Fostering regional cooperation and balanced territorial development of Western Balkan countries in the process towards EU integration” implemented by the SWG.
