15 experts from Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia and Kosovo* gathered in Goč, Serbia, to plan activities related to policy assessment and recommendations in the area of rural development and natural resource management in the region of Western Balkans. The participants were representatives of ministries of agriculture, environment, public enterprises responsible for forest management, universities and civil society organizations. They were accompanied by two experts from the European Forest Institute, BOKU University from Vienna, Austria. In the coming year, national experts from the Western Balkan countries, supported by their Austrian colleagues, will be working on national reports that will assess the policies in the area of water, forest and soil management, which will then be sublimated in a regional policy assessment report. The final result of the experts’ work is expected in June 2017 as recommendations related to adjustments of the relevant regional policies.
