20th International Drina- Sava Kayak-Canoe memorial “Vitomir Dizdarevic – Admiral Kuk” Regatta gathered this year 90 participants from Europe.

In the period from 28 April till 4 May 2019 was organized 20th Drina-Sava Kayak – Canoe Regatta from Visegrad (B&H) to Sremska Mitrovica (SER) which was supported by the SWG and GIZ.

Around 90 participants from Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania, Switzerland and Serbia gathered at the starting point in Visegrad. Traditionally the largest number of kayakers, 38 of them came from all parts of Bulgaria. Participants from Hungary celebrated the jubilee with a birthday cake, which was large enough to accommodate all participants in the regatta.

“Before the start of event we organized the 3rd World Championship in cracking the Easter Eggs as a part of celebration of Orthodox Easter. The winners were all participants of the regatta. We had excellent cooperation and hospitality with the hosts in Visegrad, Staro Brod, Vrhpolje, Mali Zvornik, Crna Bari and Sremska Mitrovica stated Dejan Jovanović the organizer of the event.

The weather conditions did not allow execution of all accompanying activities, but the main goal of the event was achieved – the promotion of culture, tradition, customs, history, ethnology, ecology, economic and social development and kayaking sport. As in previous years, the main goal of the event was to raise awareness of the conservation and protection of nature in the Podrinje region.

Twenty years of existence and satisfied participants, coming from year to year, are the best confirmation that this manifestation justifies its existence.

The event is part of the project “Support to economic diversification of rural areas in Southeast Europe (SEDRA)” implemented by SWG and GIZ.
