The Regional Rural Development Standing Working Group (SWG) in South-Eastern Europe, within the project “Strengthening regional capacities for rural development through integrated forest and water resources management in Southeast Europe (LEIWW)”, supported the organization of the event Second regional children mountaineers camp “Tara 2016”, which was organized by the Mountaineering Club “Radnicki” in the period from 31st July till 6th August 2016, in village Rastiste at Mountain Tara in Serbia.
During the seven-day camp 37 children from Serbia, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina had the opportunity to learn mountaineering skills and orientation, and behavior in nature, by tracking around National Park “Tara”, using maps and compass, to meet with the flora and fauna of the mountains through creative workshops – both learning and making friends with each other. They went back home enriched with new experiences, their independence and resourcefulness encouraged, just like the knowledge of the need to spend more free time in active and healthy contact with nature. Additionally to that, children’s book “Miracle world of dormouse George” was presented and distributed to the participants.
The event is facilitated by the European Union funded project “Fostering regional cooperation and balanced territorial development of Western Balkan countries in the process towards EU integration” implemented by the SWG.
