SWG RRD in partnership with GIZ within the Project: Support to economic diversification of rural areas in Southeast Europe (SEDRA) realized activities related to development of National Guidebooks and online training for value chain operators from the Western Balkan countries/territories as follows:
- Developed Six (6) Guidebooks on how to register for a rural tourism (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Kosovo* and Serbia). For the development of the guidebooks SWG engaged national experts who where responsible for drafting the content and preforming online coaching and trainings sessions to rural stakeholders that are “start-ups” for registering a rural tourism business;
- Organized Six Online trainings and coaching sessions during April for 172 participants.
Users of Guidebooks on Rural Tourism will be able to get acquainted with the basic legal provisions for performing work in rural tourism, the process of categorization of facilities and legal requirements.
The positive and negative aspects of dealing with rural tourism are presented through the characteristics of this tourism product to become more competitive on the market. The Guidebooks also provides recommendations that will enable the owners of rural households to get acquainted with the basic elements for creating a quality service that meets the needs of the modern tourist market.
The Guidebook points out the importance of strengthening agricultural production in rural farms, employment and generating significant income through tourism services, reducing depopulation of rural areas, improving the quality of the environment, which are the basis of rural tourism and sustainable development in the EU.
* This designation is without prejudice to positions on status and is in line with UNSCR 1244 and the ICJ Opinion on the Kosovo Declaration of Independence.
