The SWG participated and presented the organization at the European Rural Sustainability Gathering: Linking Sustainable Practices throughout Europe, which took place in the period 14-17 October 2010 in Poitou- Charentes, France. The ERSG 2010 was organized on behalf of Forum Synergies & Celavar – a French network of regional rural initiatives supporting sustainable development through popular education.
The goal of this event was to invite the European civil society to gather ideas about better policies in farming and rural areas. Celavar and Forum Synergies have created networks and have organized exchanges of goods and practices in the past 15 years. The objective was to bring these experiences to the political debate and to the good practices marketplace.
As a result, 65 representatives of civil society organizations from 15 European countries have met in Vouneuil in order to learn from sustainable practices in the region and to gather ideas for the upcoming reform of the European agricultural and rural policies. The participants have shared their views on what they have seen in the region reflecting their own work in local and regional projects. The organizers have gathered individual ideas and expectations in a conference reader before and after the conference.
