The SWG in cooperation with the local stakeholders from the cross-border region of “Sharra” has organized two cleaning actions as part of the pilot measures named “Green Actions, Earth Day Every Day!” for integrated solid waste management in a cross-border context.
The cleaning actions took place in two locations in the municipality of Jegunovce, namely the places Peshtera and Kalugjer. In the cleaning actions participated the children from two local primary schools, along with the SWG team members and the representative from the Municipality of Jegunovce. At the end of the action there was a small educational session on raising awareness for protection of the nature and recycling of solid waste.
The event is supported within the project “Solid Waste Management in cross-border rural and coastal areas of South Eastern European region”, implemented on behalf of the Regional Rural Development Standing Working Group (SWG) and NALAS, in support of GIZ Open Regional Fund for South East Europe – Modernization of Municipal Services (ORF MMS).
