Representatives of the SWG Head Office/Secretariat and the members of the Balkan Rural Development Network (BRDN) participated at the 13th Sweden Rural Parliament.
In the period from 16th – 18th of May, BRDN was presented at the exhibition area with a stand and promotional material. Representatives of national RDN-s also took part at the Open Space working session.
During this very productive visit to Sweden, Balkan Rural Development Network hosted the PREPARE representatives. The main objective of this meeting was planning of the next PREPARE Gathering and Travelling Workshop foreseen for September 5th – 9th, 2014 in Finland and Lithuania. This occasion will be at the same time serve as a preparatory meeting for the European Rural Parliament 2015.
Within this year’s press conference, the Swedish local media met the responsible SWG Project Manager and the president of the Macedonian Rural Network who, both, gave statements about the SWG and its support to the BRDN and about the profile and activities of the Macedonian Rural Network.
One of the objectives of this year’s event which has become the biggest international meeting point of the rural leaders was to put forward a proposal for a Rural Political Programme. Therefore, leaders of all Swedish political parties represented in the parliament were invited and took active participation in the “Questions & Answers” session which took part on the final day of the Swedish Rural Parliament. The political leaders expressed their views on the future development of the Swedish and the European rural areas.
