In the period from 5 till 7 March, 2020, the doors of the Sport Facility in Rudo were opened to many exhibitors and visitors who enjoyed local products and handicrafts. More than 100 exhibitors from Serbia, Montenegro and B&H presented their products.
This year, part of the fair was dedicated to young people. Secondary schools from Rudo, Rogatica, Goražde (B&H) and Priboj (SER) presented their achievements in various fields. Competition of elementary schools included: Elementary school “Rudo” Rudo, Elementary school “Bosko Buha” Strbci, Elementary school “Vuk Karadzic” Visegrad, Elementary school “Sveti Sava” Rogatica, elementary school “Fahrudin Fahro Bascelija” Gorazde and Elementary school “St. Sava” Foca.
A large number of different types of sweet cookies have been prepared by the women from the rural area of Rudo which competed for the “best cookie”. This award was voted by the visitors of the fair. This year the content of the fair was expanded with competition and presentation of local brandies and evaluation of their quality. Gold medal for plum brandy has won Milanko Arsic from Bjelo Brdo, Montenegro. The gold medal for cider has won Milivoje Vajic from Jelic, B&H and the Gold Medal for special brandy was delivered to Basement Simic from Bajina Basta, Serbia.
In addition to competing for the best brandy, as a novelty of the fair, visitors could also attend the culinary workshop prepared by Isidora Novakovic from Rudo who demonstrated her art of preparing sweet and savory dishes. “Vlacic Farm” from Trebinje, B&H specialized for fig production was selected as the the most beautiful stand of the fair. Out of the four local communities that participated in the fair, the booth of local community Mioce was awarded for the best stand. This year, visitors and exhibitors of the fair had the opportunity to enjoy a fashion show organized by “Eurozena“, Women Association “EVA” Rudo and fashion house “Konstantin”, presented by the scholars from Rudo.
The Fair was organized by the Public Institution for Tourism and Sport Rudo with the financial support of the Municipality of Rudo, donors, sponsors, non-governmental organizations and entrepreneurs. Support for organization of all activities was provided by 30 young volunteers from Rudo.
The activity is part of the project “Diversification of economic activities in rural areas of Southeast Europe: value chain investment support and capacity building” implemented by the Regional Rural Development Standing Working Group (SWG) in South-Eastern Europe in partnership with The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ).
