The Regional Rural Development Standing Working Group (SWG) in South-Eastern Europe, within the project “Rural development through integrated forest and water resources management in Southeast Europe: Rural perspectives: qualification, reintegration and (self) employment” in cooperation with GIZ, supported the organization of the two two-day trainings on “Career Counseling”. The trainings covered the following topics: Personal development, Communication skills and Job searching skills. The trainings were organized by the Center for education and development-CED from Tearce, Macedonia in the period 27-28 October and 4-5 November, 2017 at the restaurant “Princ” in Tetovo, Macedonia.
In total 35 participants took part in the trainings which were held both in Macedonian and Albanian language. Both trainings covered 4 different modules: Introduction module, Personal development, Communication skills and Job seeking skills. After the Introduction module, where all participants had the chance to get to know each other and get familiar with the program of the training, followed the Personal development module which included values, skills and qualities exercises. Also, we had good debate in the exercise called “barometer”, where they took different positions according to their beliefs. Within the Communication skills module the participants discussed about the communication process, the use of the “I speech” feedback method and the effective listening in communication process.
The second day of the trainings started with team building exercises and short resume of the first day. The training continued with the Communication skills module, with verbal and non-verbal communication and exercises. The last module on Job seeking skills the participants had the opportunity to get familiar with the possibilities on searching information for possible employment, writing CV and Motivational letter and the techniques of job interviewing. The module also included a simulation of two job interviews where the trainers and the participants discussed what the interviewees should not do/say at job interviews. The training was closed with a brief presentation on the different measures implemented by the Government of the Republic of Macedonia in the field of employment and self-employment.
