The SWG within the project “Strengthening regional capacities for rural development through integrated forest and water resources management in Southeast Europe (LEIWW)” funded by the GIZ, organized a study tour/exposure visit on “Successful examples on LAGs and LEADER in Austria, Germany and Italy” in the period 14 – 19 May, 2017 in Austria, Germany and Italy. The participants in the visit were junior level representatives dealing with LEADER Approach issues, in order to introduce them with the successful examples of LAGs and LEADER in the area of Austria, Germany and Italy. The objective of the visit was to transfer the Austrian, German and Italian experience regarding the implementation of the LEADER approach, institutional setup, coordination among the relevant authorities, link between the civil and public sector etc. The study tour promoted successful models of mutual understanding and cooperation among the stakeholders, regional actions implemented in function and project visits related to LEADER in the area. The group was consisted by junior level representatives of relevant public authorities from each participating country/territory, young experts from the civil society and representatives from the regions where the Area Based Development Approach is implemented, dealing with LEADER Approach issues.
