The regional event “Off road Bosilegrad” was organized by the Municipality of Bosilegrad, in partnership with the Municipality of Trgovishte and the NGO Srebrna Glava from Nis, Serbia, and it was held in the period 11-12 March, 2017 in Bosilegrad and Trgoviste, Serbia.
The main objective of this regional event, as part of the People-to-People program, was the promotion of the beauties of the Municipalities of Trgoviste and Bosilegrad, but also the area of the whole cross-border region of ”Pcinja Krajiste”.
The event was organized in the extremely low populated areas with unique and preserved nature which also provide significant tourism potential. More than 300 participants were present at the event. During the event, traditional products and local specialties were presented to the participants and guests. In the evening the contest of best handmade pie and local traditional meal was organized. More than 30 agriculture households present their products during the exhibition of local products. During the presentation of local food, rural households and companies, except promotion, also had the opportunity to sell their products.
On the first day of the event the participants started from Trgoviste and Bosilegrad to meet in the village Dukat on the border between these two municipalities, after which the caravan drove through the villages on mountain Dukat: Doganica, Nazarica and Bistar. On the second day, the caravan of vehicles continued to drive to the eastern side of the mountain Dukat to the peak Crnook.
This regional event contributed to better cross-border cooperation among sport clubs and municipalities from Macedonia, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia.
This activity is part of the European Union funded project: “Fostering regional cooperation and balanced territorial development of Western Balkan countries in the process towards EU integration” implemented by the Regional Rural Development Standing Working Group (SWG) in South-Eastern Europe.
