On February 4th, 2010, Mr. Dusan Neskovic, President of the Assembly of the Regional Rural Development Standing Working Group (SWG) in South-East Europe, and Ms Maria Kadlecikova, FAO Deputy Director-General and Regional Representative for Europe and Central Asia, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in agriculture and rural development in South-East Europe. The signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was performed in the FAO Sub-regional Office for Europe and Central Asia, Budapest, Hungary.
The purpose for the signing of the MoU is to intensify and deepen cooperation between the Regional Rural Development Standing Working Group in South-East Europe (SWG) and (FAO) of United Nations. The general objective of the cooperation between these two organizations will be on capacity building for policy formulation and streamlining the agriculture and rural development policies of the SWG member countries. The important focus is also on the enhancement of networking of rural development stakeholders as a tool to improve the capacity for implementing rural development policies and measures at local level in the member countries of SWG.
