The two-day seminar “Transfer of knowledge and experience in beekeeping in the cross-border region of Drina-Tara” was organized by the Beekeeping Association “Matica” in Pljevlja, Montenegro from 25-26 March, 2017.
This regional event gathered around 100 beekeepers from the cross-border region of “Drina-Tara”, from Pljevlja, Bijelo Polje, Berane (MNE); Rudo, Visegrad (B&H); Priboj and Prijepolje (SER). The event was organized with a full support of the Municipality and Mr. Budimir Bajcetic, Chief of Economy Department of Municipality of Pljevlja who welcomed the participants and underlined the good and fruitful cooperation between the Municipality and the SWG. The SWG Regional manager introduced the organization and the ABD program, as well as up to date achievements within the cross-border region of “Drina-Tara”.
Prof. Dr. Nada Plavsa, from the Agricultural Faculty of Novi Sad, had a very interesting presentation on bee diseases and organic beekeeping, with intensive discussion and participation of the present beekeepers. After the presentation, the participants had the opportunity to visit the local beekeeper, Mr. Radosav Zecevic, one of the grant beneficiaries within the last ABD Grant scheme implemented by the SWG.
The next day was organized a presentation of good practices in beekeeping with focus on proper winter works and good spring development of bee associations conducted by Mr. Janos Balint, beekeeper from Zrenjanjin. His family owns around 800 hives and is dealing with production of honey, pollen and swarms.
This activity is part of the European Union funded project: “Fostering regional cooperation and balanced territorial development of Western Balkan countries in the process towards EU integration” implemented by the Regional Rural Development Standing Working Group (SWG) in South-Eastern Europe.
