Extraordinary ad-hoc Meeting of the Ministers of Agriculture and Food from South Eastern Europe in relation to the Bluetongue disease, January 25th, 2017, at the Hotel “Podgorica”, Podgorica, Montenegro

The Ministers of Agriculture and Food from South Eastern Europe (SEE) and the Heads of Delegations, gathered on 25th of January 2017 in Podgorica at the extraordinary meeting organized under the joint auspices of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Montenegro and the Regional Rural Development Standing Working Group (SWG) in South Eastern Europe, to discuss and define actions in the light of the emerging problem in the SEE region related to the appearance of the Bluetongue disease.

The Ministers and Heads of Delegations deliberated on the epidemic outbreak of Bluetongue which has taken over some of the countries in the region with a possibility of spreading across the overall SEE. The meeting was used to address and establish effective strategies of cooperation for the prevention and control of animal disease. The initiative requires regional network approach that will serve as an observation mechanism for pursuing the implementation of these strategies and focusing on sustainable development in the SEE region.
