SWG participating in global discussion what after Covid crisis and options for development, organized by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH
This exchange brings together international experts from academia, policy, finance, and economic development. You are invited to share and debate your views on key questions raised by the Covid-19 crisis: What are the most important challenges for comprehensive development? Which policies are simultaneously effective in stimulating economic recovery and in advancing the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals? How should policies be sequenced? The objective is to identify approaches that work, and to devise context-sensitive strategies for their scaling.
The dialogue will take the form of three virtual and moderated plenary sessions scheduled for 15 July, 28 July, and 30 September. They will be supplemented by specialized working group meetings.
This session will take place on 15 July, 15:30-17:30 CEST. It aims to establish a common
understanding of the challenges the Covid-19 crisis poses for economic development in different countries and areas, and to identify the issues you would like to focus on in the next weeks. While most issues will be discussed in the plenary, you will also spend some time working in smaller breakout groups.
