The Regional Rural Development Standing Working Group (SWG) in South-Eastern Europe within the SWG GIZ project “Rural development through integrated forest and water resources management in Southeast Europe: Rural perspectives: qualification, reintegration and (self) employment” will support the organization of the regional manifestation “XVI Days of Pljevlja cheese”, which will be organized by the Municipality of Pljevlja, Secretariat for the Economy and will be held on 20th October, 2017 in Pljevlja, Montenegro.
The wide range of Montenegrin traditional dairy products is well known, and one of the most important, both by quality and quantity, is the Pljevlja cheese. Traditional cheeses represent a cultural heritage and are a result of accumulated empirical knowledge passed from generation to generation. Every traditional cheese is connected to the territory of its origin.
The aim of the regional manifestation “XVI Days of Pljevlja cheese” is promotion of the potentials and traditional dairy products of the region as very important component of socio-economic development of the local communities of this cross-border area. The primary goal of this regional manifestation is promotion of traditional dairy product- Pljevlja cheese as well as dairy products from other parts of Montenegro and the cross-border region of “Drina-Tara”. The regional manifestation “XVI Days of Pljevlja cheese”, will contribute to the development of economic activities, networking of agricultural producers and access to potential markets in order to achieve faster socio-economic development of local communities of the cross-border area.
