The objective of this Workshop, organized as a follow-up of the 5th Stakeholders’ group meeting for the cross-border region “Drina-Tara” held in October in Bijelo Polje, was launching the initiative and concrete actions to test area based development approach and preparation of a pilot project for the integrated economic development.
The discussion was focused on the following topics:
- Integrated approach for economic development of cross-border regions in Western Balkan countries
- Presentation and discussion of suggested micro regions/route for implementing activities related to the integrated economic development and financial aspects
- Provision of an office space for the Project Management Unit (PMU) of cross-border region “Drina-Tara”
- Possible promotion of “Drina-Tara” cross border-region on the upcoming International Agriculture Fair in Brcko
Accordingly, micro regions/route for implementing activities related to the integrated economic development and financial aspects were presented. Related to the micro regions/route, the participants discussed and defined: the attractions (cultural, historical, natural, etc…), the service providers (restaurants, hotels, rural households, touristic organisations, touristic agencies, adventure tourism offices, tourism schools, etc…) and the typical products and producers. Events which are taking place in the proposed micro regions were mapped.
The workshop ended with an agreement for the next steps/activity plan.
