Discussions focused on the role of evidence-based policymaking in addressing key challenges facing the region, including generational renewal, rural development, climate change adaptation, agricultural competitiveness and the alignment of national policies with the EU Common Agricultural Policy (CAP).

Regional experts from South-East Europe and Moldova met in Halle (Saale), Germany, to advance the establishment of a Regional Working Group (Task Force) on Generational Renewal in Agriculture and Rural Development. The meeting also reviewed progress on implementation of the Agricultural Policy Monitoring and Evaluation, Agricultural Policy Index and the regional StatDatabase, while introducing participants to European approaches to food security monitoring, crisis preparedness and resilience-building through the EFSCM.

The Demonstration Field will serve as a practical platform for testing, showcasing, and promoting innovative climate-smart agricultural practices, helping farmers, researchers, and policymakers develop effective solutions for adapting to the impacts of climate change.

SWG supported presentations showcased regional progress in climate adaptation, innovation, and sustainable agriculture, while strengthening cooperation with academic and institutional partners.

The panel brings together German and regional agribusiness companies and investors, policymakers and institutional representatives, development partners, as well as trade promotion organisations and chambers of commerce to advance German–Southeast European cooperation in the agri-food sector

The Conference highlighted the importance of regional collaboration and shared expertise in supporting the Western Balkans (WB) on their path toward European Union integration. Austrian Government has long-standing cooperation with the Western Balkans region, underlining its continued commitment to supporting sustainable development and environmental governance.
