Sustainable Forest Management

The 11th Forestry Meeting reaffirmed the commitment of all stakeholders to advancing sustainable forest management, improving regional cooperation, and accelerating progress toward EU integration. Through coordinated efforts, innovative approaches, and strengthened partnerships, the Forestry component will play a vital role in addressing climate challenges and supporting the long-term resilience of the WB region.

The 10th Interim Meeting of the REAWG on Sustainable Forest Management brought together regional experts to discuss priorities and common challenges for future cooperation in the Western Balkans from 2026. A consolidated summary and finalized framework outlining the path for enhanced regional cooperation going forward.

Forestry plays a vital role in addressing the impacts of climate change and must be fully integrated into broader policy frameworks and adaptation strategies. The inclusion of forestry in climate change adaptation is essential for achieving long-term sustainability, resilience, and environmental protection in the Western Balkans.

Participants expressed strong commitment to applying the discussed principles in their professional activities to support sustainable forest management and biodiversity conservation in Kosovo*.

The workshop brought together 30 participants representing the Public Enterprise National Forests – Skopje, National Parks, and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy.

The purpose of the National Training Workshop on Forest Biodiversity in Albania was to present the regional training experience related to forest biodiversity adjusted to national conditions.
