The 14th Interim Meeting of the Regional Expert Advisory Working Group (REAWG) on Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation Systems (AKIS) was held on 3 June 2026 in Prishtina as part of the Agricultural Policy Forum (APF) 2026. The meeting reviewed progress in AKIS development, discussed national priorities for 2026, and highlighted the importance of stronger governance and regional cooperation. Discussions focused on advisory services, digitalisation, climate adaptation, and closer cooperation among AKIS actors. Participants also reviewed national activities and case studies aimed at improving knowledge transfer and innovation in agriculture.
Montenegro’s experience in advancing reforms under Chapter 11 (Agriculture and Rural Development) and establishing AKIS structures was presented as a valuable example for the region. Participants noted the role of institutional reform, stronger advisory services, and working groups in supporting coordination and innovation. This highlights the need for effective coordination, stakeholder engagement, and stronger connections among advisory services, research institutions, policymakers, farmers, and the private sector to align policies and strengthen national institutional structures in the EU accession process.
