The 17th interim meeting of the Regional Expert Agricultural Working Group on Wine brought together experts, policymakers, and representatives from across the region. The session reviewed progress achieved with a focus on harmonizing agricultural policies and wine sector regulations with EU standards.
Participants engaged in expert presentations and discussions on key topics including EU regulatory updates on market regulations and sectoral support measures in the wine sector, climate change impacts on viticulture through analysis of the Winkler Index, protection of geographical indications, status and outlook of organic farming in the European Union, as well as emerging global trends such as the no- and low-alcohol wine movement and its economic implications.
The agenda also features country/territory updates from ministries and national experts on progress in harmonising legal regulations with EU standards The meeting highlighted the importance of continued regional cooperation, knowledge exchange, and coordinated efforts to strengthen the wine sector across the region.
