From 21 to 23 September 2026, experts, institutions and practitioners gather in Šabac to turn climate adaptation priorities into practical guidance for Serbia’s agricultural sector.

A three-day national workshop bring together public institutions, an expert team and key stakeholders to develop the Guidelines for the Adaptation of Agricultural Production to Changing Climate Conditions. The focus was practical: identifying measures that can help agriculture respond more effectively to climate-related challenges.

The programme begin with opening remarks from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of Serbia and the representative form the Standing Working Group for Regional Rural Development. Participants then explore the Environmental Protection Strategy and Green Agenda, the Agriculture and Rural Development Strategy, and ongoing institutional efforts to support climate adaptation in agriculture.

On the second day, the expert team consisted of Ružica Stričević, Dragana Vidojević, Vladan Bogdanović, Đorđe Moravčević and Vlado Kovačević shared the results achieved so far. Participants  review the proposed adaptation measures, consider what is needed to put them into practice, and provide feedback on the final draft of the guidelines.

The final day focuses on presenting the completed document, agreeing on key conclusions and closing the workshop. This collaborative process will help ensure that the guidelines reflect institutional priorities, expert knowledge and participants’ practical experience.

The activity is implemented within the framework of the regional project “Green Agenda for the Western Balkans – Support to the Western Balkan Countries in Climate Change Adaptation”, founded by the German Government through the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development BMZ and implemented by GIZ in partnership with Standing Working Group for Rural Regional Development (SWG RRD).
