The 61st SWG Assembly Session took place from December 26-29, 2024, in Budapest and Kecskemét, Hungary. Delegates from SWG member and observer countries/territories have gathered in Hungary under the gracious hospitality of the Ministry of Agriculture of Hungary. This session aims to provide a comprehensive review of the SWG activities and achievements throughout the year 2024, with a particular focus on actions taken and measures that need to be implemented in relation to the outcomes of key events, such as the Agricultural Policy Forum 2024 and the 18th Annual Meeting of the Ministers from Southeast Europe (SEE) 2024.
The 61st SWG Assembly engage in discussions related to the agricultural and rural development policies relevant to the region, with a special emphasis on the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans. The Green Agenda is a crucial framework for sustainable development in the region, and the Assembly address its integration into national agricultural strategies. Additionally, the significance of the Berlin Process, which promotes regional cooperation and integration within the Western Balkans, also was highlighted in relation to agricultural and rural development.
One of the main focuses of the Assembly focused on the development of the SWG Operational Plan for 2025. This plan will outline the strategic objectives and priorities for the next year, ensuring that the SWG continues to contribute to regional cooperation and the advancement of agricultural policies in the Western Balkans.
