The Eleventh Interim Meeting of the Regional Expert Advisory Working Group (REAWG) on Organic Agriculture was held in two sessions, on 4 June 2025 in Ohrid, North Macedonia, during the Agricultural Policy Forum (APF) 2025, and as an online follow-up on 1 July 2025. The meeting gathered national experts, institutional representatives, and regional partners to review progress and coordinate future activities in the organic agriculture sector across Southeast Europe (SEE).
Participants assessed the implementation of National Organic Action Plans, with a focus on alignment with EU Regulation 2018/848 and regional market development. Discussions also addressed several key initiatives, including the preparation of a training module for control bodies, the finalisation of an advisory checklist for organic product documentation, and joint participation at BIOFACH 2027 under the “Prominent Region” initiative.
The continuation meeting on 1 July featured technical updates from the European Commission on the TRACES system and the Certificate of Inspection procedures. Participants also discussed the concept and logistics of the upcoming Organic Summer School 2025 in Shkodër, Albania, and agreed on preparations for regional training sessions for organic inspectors in September.
The meeting concluded with a reaffirmed commitment to regional coordination, capacity building, and alignment with EU organic standards. Follow-up actions were agreed to support the effective implementation of the regional organic agenda throughout 2025.
