The Ninth Interim meeting of the REAWG on AKIS in SEE was held in Durres, Albania, from 28 to 30 October 2024.
The meeting saw evident progress in formalising AKIS in most Western Balkan countries/territories. This development indicates the project’s advancement and potential to impact the REAWG’s further work.
They also emphasised the importance of establishing a Knowledge repository in which the results of work during the two-year work of REAWG on AKIS would be stored as helpful material for use in the mix of good practices, not only in the further work of the AKIS work team but also those who are involved and interested in insight into new innovative knowledge in the field of agriculture, especially those that are closely related to innovative adaptation in agriculture to the more visible negative impact caused by climate change.
Furthermore, it was confirmed that the results of the work of the Working Group have reached the level that it is possible to start working on the practical, experimental part of AKIS by preparing and implementing case studies in each of the countries/territories of Southeast Europe. The work plan for the year 2025 has been established, and the implementation of planned activities through the country/territory case study will be closely related to innovative adaptation to climate change in agriculture.
