In the period from 26th March to 3rd April 2022, two trainings for the tourist guides have been organized. Training for Ski touring guides was conducted on Mountains Hajla and Sharra and training for snowshoeing guides was organized on slopes of Mountains Hajla on Kosovo*. Participants from Albania, Kosovo* and Montenegro had a unique opportunity to learn from professionals about many aspects which is necessary to become guide. Through interactive discussions on theoretical and practical parts of the trainings, they learn a lot about becoming the guide. The guides need to present the Western Balkan region on best possible way, and in same time to lower or to eliminate all the risks on mountains. Very often this is a challenge both for ski touring and snowshoeing guides. Except to lead the group, the guides are the ones who are best represent region and ones who are key focal points for international tourist to Balkan. All the organizational and logistical issues is the part of their job. Also, they fight with some aspects of life which are not part of their job, such as plastic waste pollution and preservation of the environment.

These guides provide services on the Explore Balkan Tour Ski Touring Behind Frontiers. The tour is best for the winter season in the Western Balkans and for active travelers who like skiing and ski-shoeing. The possibility of visiting 3 countries on only 1 tour adds some value to this amazing trip that takes you to the very high peaks of Balkans for an incredible snow adventure!

Part of the activities are supported within the Project: “Promotion of Economic Diversification in Rural Areas of South-Eastern Europe (SEDRA II) in SEE – Value chain capacity building on agriculture and rural tourism to promote rural employment opportunities” supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and GIZ North Macedonia and implemented by the SWG RRD.
