Traditionally, the International Green Week was organized this year on 19th and 20th January 2023 in Berlin, Germany. Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA) is an international conference that focuses on agri-food policy issues. Particularly in light of the multi-layered crises we are currently facing – the food crisis, the climate crisis, biodiversity loss, the COVID-19 pandemic and Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine – the 2023 GFFA, as a 4 day multilateral event, provides an ideal platform for addressing current challenges through global joint and decisive action. The GFFA was held during International Green Week (IGW) and took place in its current shape for the fifteenth time.
The focus of the 15th Global Forum for Food and Agriculture 2023 is on “Food Systems Transformation: A Worldwide Response to Multiple Crises”. With the 2030 Agenda, the international community has set itself ambitious Sustainable Development Goals, such as ending global hunger. The aim of GFFA is focused on potential ways to establish crisis-proof and climate-friendly food systems, conserve biodiversity and improve cooperation in this field.
The Regional Rural Development Standing Working Group (SWG) in SEE was presented at the Innovation Forum with opportunity to showcase its activities in the agricultural sector with a small stand and promotional materials together with a number of international organizations, institutions, associations, universities and the BMEL.
The GFFA Innovation Forum is an exhibition format presenting practical examples and new solutions around the main GFFA topic. At the next GFFA, the exhibition will focus on how innovative projects can contribute to the transformation of global food systems.
