Promotion of Beekeeping, Apitherapy and Tourism in the Pchinja-Krajishte Region


The event promote and diversify activities in the Western Balkan rural region more specifically, the improvement of cooperation between beekeeping associations, entrepreneurs and agricultural households engaged in the collection and processing of forest fruits and the promotion of apitherapy as preventive health care and tourist product in the tourist destination of Vlasina.

The event was organized by the Beekeeping Association “Matica” from Surdulica, Serbia in the Mountain Hut in Vlasina Rid on 1200 altitude where in the vicinity are placed Api chambers. Participants were beekeepers form Serbia, North Macedonia and Bulgaria.

During the event Education on the topic “Proper use of bee products and apitherapy” was conducted by Mr. Rodoljub Zivanovic, President of Beekeeping Association of Serbia. A special part of the education was devoted to the benefits of using Api chambers – breathing air from the hives. At the small sales exhibition, beekeepers, manufacturers of beekeeping equipment, collectors and processors of natural products from the Region exhibit products.

Beekeeping Association “Matica” Surdulica has more than 90 active members and more than 3.800 hives. “Matica” Association participated in various projects and programmes in cooperation with local self-government and other associations of beekeepers in Region.
