As part of the 46th OIV Congress organized in Chisinau, Moldova from 15-20 June, 2025 representatives from SWG member countries/territories actively participated in various thematic sessions and committees. Under the unifying theme “A Journey Through 7 Lands – Tasting Western Balkan & Moldovan Heritage”, SWG proudly showcased the wines and cultural richness of the Western Balkans and Moldova.
In the scope of the event 16th Meeting of the Regional Expert Advisory Working Group (REAWG) on Wine was conducted. Key highlights from the Meeting:
- Presentation on the progress and current activities of the Regional Expert Advisory Working Group (REAWG) since December 2024 within the project: “Agricultural Policy Dialogue Germany – Western Balkans”.
- Latest Developments in EU and OIV Wine Sector Regulations –A comprehensive overview of recent regulations, focusing on measures supporting the European wine sector in the face of: Climate change, Trade uncertainties, Shifting consumer preferences
- Status Update on Legal Harmonization (Dec 2024 – June 2025)-National experts and ministry representatives presented progress on aligning national wine sector regulations with EU standards.
- Report from the VITIFIT Conference included proposals for future thematic priorities.
- Future Planning Open discussion on upcoming activities and strategic directions for regional cooperation in viticulture and wine policy.
