Representatives of the SEE countries at the BIOFACH event


BIOFACH is the world’s leading Trade Fair for Organic Food and is organized in the Nuremberg Exhibition Center from February 13-16, 2024.

Representatives of Regional Expert Advisory Working Group (REAWG) on Organic Agriculture form SEE countries where invited to participate in the panel discussion, one of the events organized during BIOFACH for the Central and Southeast Europe region. This time the panel is realized with the title “Latest facts, figures, and prospects of organic agriculture in Central and Eastern Europe – Ministerial overviews 2024. War, market disruptions, inflation, and an ever-expanding climate crisis. Some of the most important challenges the countries of the SEE region face. How do policymakers react? How much will SEE countries contribute to the ambitious goals set by the European Green Deal? Are there efforts beyond simple area-based payments? And how do non-EU member states’ organic sectors develop? This session brings together high-level policymakers from the Central Eastern European region to answer such questions and share visions for a more sustainable agriculture.” During the discussion, the panel participants should answer how and with which policies the authorities in their countries intend to respond to these challenges.

In the frame of BIOFACH Fair of Organic Food, representatives from the SWG RRD met German Federal Minister of Food and Agriculture in order to exchange on the cooperation and once again reiterate the continued commitment to the joint projects and successful collaboration in the framework of the Agricultural Policy Dialogue Germany – SEE by integrating the topics of food, agriculture and forestry in the Berlin Process which will strengthen both the technical work and regional cooperation.
