The 13th meeting of the Regional Expert Advisory Working Group (REAWG) on Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation Systems (AKIS) was held online on 16 March 2026, bringing together 27 participants from South East Europe. The meeting reaffirmed REAWG’s role as a key regional platform for coordination, knowledge exchange, and peer learning in support of ongoing agricultural reforms and EU integration processes.
Discussions focused on national AKIS work plans for 2026, highlighting efforts across the region to strengthen advisory services, enhance knowledge transfer, and promote innovation through practical approaches such as demonstration farms, pilot initiatives, and value chain development. Participants emphasised the need to improve coordination, address system fragmentation, and ensure stronger links between policy and practice.
An important part of the meeting was dedicated to the development of the AKIS Knowledge Repository, envisioned as a central regional platform for sharing tools, knowledge, and best practices. Participants welcomed progress made so far and called for active contributions and wider promotion to maximise its impact.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to intensify regional cooperation, advance implementation of national AKIS priorities, and continue joint efforts towards building more effective, integrated, and innovation-driven agricultural systems in the South East Europe region.
