On 17 September 2026, the SWG RRD, in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of Republika Srpska, hosted a specialized training workshop for 28 agricultural advisers at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Banja Luka.

The initiative equipped advisory services with practical scientific knowledge to help local farmers protect their yields against climate risks. National academic experts led interactive thematic modules covering five core areas: sustainable land management, water resources, crop production, livestock adaptation, and agroeconomics.

A key highlight of the event was an interactive group work session, which encouraged advisers to exchange field experiences and apply theoretical solutions to real-world scenarios using the newly launched CCAA Training Manual.

The initiative successfully demonstrated how academic expertise and practical extension work can join forces to build a more climate-resilient farming sector. Building on this success, SWG RRD and its regional partners announced possibility to expand training activities across the Southeast European region in 2027.

The activity is implemented within the framework of the regional project “Green Agenda for the Western Balkans – Support to the Western Balkan Countries in Climate Change Adaptation”, founded by the German Government through the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development BMZ and implemented by GIZ in partnership with Standing Working Group for Rural Regional Development (SWG RRD).
