The Regional Expert Advisory Working Group (REAWG) on Organic Agriculture met in Skopje to evaluate the progress made in developing organic policies and markets across the Western Balkans and Moldova. The meeting brought together national experts, representatives from various ministries, and international partners to assess achievements and outline future priorities.
The discussions focused on implementing National Organic Action Plans (NOAPs), harmonising legislation with EU Regulation 2018/848, and improving regional market competitiveness. Notable highlights included reports on Central and Eastern European representation at the EU Organic Awards 2025 in Brussels, online training sessions for inspectors, and the successful Organic Advancement School held in Shkodra, Albania.
Mr. Luis Carazo Jimenez from DG AGRI shared insights on current developments in EU organic policies, while experts from the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture (FiBL) and German Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Regional Identity (BMLEH) facilitated discussions on key challenges and opportunities. Participants reiterated their commitment to enhancing regional cooperation and visibility within the joint SWG framework, concentrating on continuity, capacity building, and coordinated participation in international events.
