Study visits and the REAWG on Organic Agriculture planning session in Wetzlar, Germany


The Study tour for the REAWG on Organic Agriculture was organized and delivered in Germany for 16 representatives of ministries of agriculture and universities/research organizations from the Western Balkan countries and Moldova.

The purpose of the study tour was to exchange experience and transfer best practices of the German (Hesse) model implementing new EU legal requirements in the organic agriculture.

The participants were accommodated in Wetzlar from where they traveled  to the Organic Field Days, having various meetings with public and private organizations, visiting different sites linked with the study tour topic. This location is designated for the REAWG on Organic Agriculture study tour from 28 -30 June, 2022, the third national Organic Field Days was organized at the Gladbacherhof (agricultural holding of the Hessian State) near the town of Villmar, where the University of Giessen (Gießen) operates its institute for research and experiments in organic agriculture.

The Organic Field Days provided to visitors a unique combination of practice and research in organic agriculture and animal husbandry. The nationwide Öko-Feldtage (“Organic Field Days”) are a three-days meeting point for organically working farmers as well as all farmers interested in new methods for environmentally friendly agriculture. The event offers an ideal platform where current topics can be discussed with practitioners and representatives from politics and economy.
