Hosted in Skopje, North Macedonia, from May 1318, this comprehensive training course aims to deeply immerse participants into the world of wine, focusing on both the industry’s current state and its future trends in the region and beyond.

Organized by the Regional Rural Development Standing Working Group (SWG) and IAK Agrar Consulting GmbH (IAK), in close collaboration with Hochschule Geisenheim University (HGU Geisenheim), this event is designed for viticulture students, young professionals/entrepreneurs within the wine industry, as well as government experts and representatives who wish to further educate themselves on the topics of wine marketing and wine tourism under the current market conditions and climate change challenges in viticulture and oenology from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo*, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia and Moldova.

The program provided a robust educational experience with a mixture of lectures, discussions, and field trips led by esteemed experts from the wine industry.

  • Strategic Wine Tourism Marketing: Techniques for matching supply with demand in wine tourism, alongside global best practices and business models.
  • Viticulture and Climate Change: Addressing the impacts of climate change on viticulture and oenology, including mitigation strategies and EU wine laws.
  • Agroecological Measures and Strategies towards Climate Change Adaptation in SEE
  • Regional Focus: Exploring the wine styles and history of the Western Balkans, including discussions on local grape varieties and their adaptation to climate changes.

This event was an opportunity to learn but also to network with professionals and enthusiasts from across the globe, sharing insights and experiences. Each session is designed to provide both theoretical knowledge and practical understanding, ensuring participants can apply their learning to real-world scenarios.
