The Eleventh Interim Meeting of the Regional Expert Advisory Working Group on Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation Systems in South Eastern Europe countries was held online on 24 June 2025. The meeting brought together national experts, international advisors, and SWG representatives to assess the development of AKIS across Southeast Europe and to coordinate ongoing efforts aimed at establishing a more integrated regional knowledge and innovation framework.
Participants reviewed progress on the implementation of national AKIS Work Plans 2025 and shared updates on country-specific Case Studies. The session featured detailed discussions on the development of the AKIS Knowledge Repository, including technical improvements, content submissions, and steps needed to ensure full functionality and relevance for regional stakeholders.
The meeting also included a strategic review of regional achievements, challenges, and next steps, with particular emphasis on strengthening the role of AKIS as a system of interactive knowledge exchange. The importance of institutional engagement, targeted capacity building, and timely delivery of case study results was underlined as essential to advancing the formalisation of AKIS in the SEE region.
The session concluded with a reaffirmed commitment to advancing regional cooperation, improving knowledge-sharing mechanisms, and ensuring that AKIS initiatives continue to contribute to innovation-driven agricultural development in Southeast Europe.
