The Project “Facilitation of exchange through advice on harmonized wine regulations in all Western Balkan Countries” contributes and support the representatives of the Ministries of Agriculture of the Western Balkan Countries in their efforts to align national wine regulations to each other and to EU standards and to exchange with each other in this area.

The Project aims at strengthening the economic and political relationships between all the Western Balkan countries and with the EU.

The Expected Results are:

  • Representatives of the Ministries of Agriculture of all Western Balkan countries have agreed on core issues and sub-topics for the advisory activities and on an approach towards more coherent regulations.
  • Representatives of the Ministries of Agriculture of all Western Balkan countries have sufficient knowledge and motivation to strengthen the process in their countries to align their national wine regulations to each other and to EU standards.
  • Representatives of the Ministries of Agriculture and relevant stakeholders in the wine sector have received country specific capacity building on individual regulatory aspects and their implementation (supportive of regional trade and trade with the EU).
  • A regular and visible exchange mechanism on wine regulations, and their implementation has been established between all Western Balkan countries.

This project is commissioned by the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL), to be jointly implemented by GFA Consulting Group GmbH and the SWG.

Expected project duration: November 2018 – October 2021.
