First National Conference “Invisible Heroines of Serbia” have been organized in Culture Centre of City of Cacak by Farmers Association “My Farmer – Open Network for Agriculture” on 15th October celebrating International Day of Rural Women.
Conference have been officially opened by Mr. Danilo Golubovic, Advisor to the Prime Minister on Agriculture and EU Common Agricultural Policy and addressing of the Mr. Miloš Vujisic, President of the Open Network for Agriculture “Moj Poljoprivrednik”. Whitin the conference topic “The Role, Importance, and Position of Women in Rural Areas and Support Measures”, SWG Regional Manager Mr. Aleksandar Damnjanovic had the opportunity to present SWG work and activities related to youth and women in rural areas, together with other speakers: Ms. Naida Zečević-Bean, Director of Office of Democratic and Economic Growth, USAID Serbia, Mr. Petar Georgijevski, President of the Balkan Network for Rural Development and Mr. Miloš Vujisić, President of the Open Network for Agriculture “Moj Poljoprivrednik”.
Participants at the conference had chance to see short movie “A Woman from the Karst” as well as presentation of the best practice examples by Ms. Tijana Skorić Tomic, owner of the distillery “Gorda”.
During the afternoon session, panel have been organized with topic “Women in Villages – From Guardians of Tradition to Drivers of Change in Rural Serbia” moderator: Milinko Saponjic from Open Network for Agriculture and panelist: Ms. Malina Stanojevic, Women’s Association “Sacuvajmo Selo” from Priboj, Ms. Snezana Saponjic Asanin, Ethnologist and Museum Advisor at the National Museum in Cacak, Ms. Radmila Ilic from Faculty of Agronomy in Cacak and Ms. Milka Nedeljkovic, Head of the Office for Agriculture, Municipality of Gornji Milanovac.
After award ceremony and adoption of the Declaration, officially conference have been closed. Later, participants had chance to visit Local Food Fair at the square in front of the Cultural Center, where small producers from that rural area of the Serbia presented their products. Regional manager had meeting with Mr. Nedeljko Radulovic, manager of the LAG Cacak – Gornji Milanovac and discussed about opportunities for future cooperation with SWG.
